Rahul Thappa joins Mail Today as chief operating officer

Mail Today has appointed Rahul Thappa as chief operating officer. Thappa will report to Ashish Bagga, chief executive officer, India Today Group.

Thappa replaces Suresh Balakrishna, who is currently serving his notice period with the news daily. (See: Suresh Balakrishna bids adieu to Mail Today)

He joins Mail Today from Mindshare Malaysia, where he was the managing director.

Manoj Sharma, who had recently joined Mail Today as business head, will now report to Thappa. The position of business head was newly created to focus on advertising revenues of the paper.

At Mindshare, Thappa has held various positions including business director for entertainment, sports and partnerships and planning and buying director, Team Unilever at the agency.

Thappa has also worked with Mudra Communications, MPG India, Ogilvy & Mather, and as the group head, account planning, Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay).

He has just completed a post-graduate management programme for senior executives from IIM-Ahmedabad.
