Donald Trump took oath as the 47th president of the United States on Tuesday, vowing to deport millions of illegal immigrants, re-establishing America’s supremacy on the global stage and safeguarding his government and the nation from political enemies.
Minutes before the swearing-in, Trump signed 80 executive orders revoking the Biden administration’s executive actions, which he described as “destructive and radical.”
The first executive order Trump signed was the termination of US role in Paris climate agreement. He also signed an order declaring a national emergency at the US-Mexico border.
The President also signed an order ending US participation in the World Health Organisation (WHO), which he said is a waste of US public funds..
Donald Trump also signed an order ending social engineering of citizens in terms of race, religion or gender. In all he signed 80 executive orders.
He also promised to herald a revolution of commonsense and promised to recognise only two genders – male and female – and denounce radical thinking.
Delivering the inaugural address, President Donald Trump also vowed to take back Panama Canal, which was gifted to Canada and now administered by the Chinese.
The swearing-in ceremony, however, was moved indoors to a small platform in Capitol Hill’s Rotunda, shifting away from the traditional stage on the West Lawn, due to a frosty weather forecast.
Not many could witness the swearing-in of the President and vice president-elect JD Vance. Only dignitaries like President Joe Biden, members of Congress and other notable guests were able to be allowed inside for the ceremony.
This is the first time when the swearing-in was moved indoors after the swearing-in of President Ronald Reagan for his second term in 1985.
