TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has Rs22 cr assets, richer by Rs5 cr

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is facing fresh election, after he dissolved the assembly prematurely, has declared property worth over Rs22 crore in an affidavit filed along with his nomination paper for the Gajwel Assembly constituency.
Telangana will go to polls on 7 December to elect a new assembly.
Chandrasekhar Rao, whose party symbol is a car, however, does not own a car, as per his affidavit, which declares Rao as an agriculturist.
Rao, however, says he got richer by nearly Rs5.5 crore since he became chief minister of the newly-formed Telangana state. The total value of his assets – both movable and immovable – has gone up to Rs22.61 crore from Rs15.95 crore in 2014.
Rao’s liabilities have also grown by over Rs1 crore to Rs8.89 crore, from Rs7.87 crore in 2014, the affidavit says.
The affidavit states that Rao acquired 16 acres of land in past four years. He now possesses 54.24 acres of agriculturist land, the affidavit states.
His wife K Shobha has movable assets of over Rs94.5 lakh.
As many as 64 criminal cases related to the separate Telangana agitation are filed against Rao, the affidavit says. They are in various stages.
Rao, who began campaigning for the upcoming state elections on Monday, said there will be a straight fight between his party and the Congress, adding that the BJP is nowhere in the state’s political map.
