DVAC sleuths conduct raids at residences of TNPSC officials

Directorate and vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) investigators yesterday conducted searches at the residences of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) officials, including its joint secretary Michael Jerald.

The raids came over allegations of irregularities in appointments to state services.

On 13 October, a case had been registered against TNPSC chairman R Sellamuthu and a few members of the commission following charges of corruption. The officials also raided the residences of Sellamuthu and 13 others today and seized several documents.

Reports quoting a senior DVAC official said the agency took the list of TNPSC officials who were involved in the recruitment process and conducted raids. The agency, he added, would follow up with more searches at their offices.

The searches, which were led by 14 deputy superintendents of police started at 8 am on Friday.

With his recent elevation to the post of joint secretary, Jerald had moved to a house in Lloyds Colony.
 
The residences of TNPSC secretaries E Suguraman and Ravi D Elangovan were also raided. Further, residences of section officer S P Usha, assistant section officers S Ramamoorthy, N V Kumaresan, M Sathish Kumar, P Murugan, R Ravichandran, K Radhakrishnan, G Prabhakaran, R Balaji and E Loganathan, and selection grade assistant section officer Syed Irfan Ahmed were also raided.
