Nandan Nilekani conferred the Sir M Visvesvaraya memorial award

UIDAI chairman, Nandan Nilekani was presented the 12th Sir M Visvesvaraya memorial award at a ceremony organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) to mark the birth anniversary of Sir M Visvesvaraya.

Visvesvaraya, a notable engineer, scholar, and statesman born in Karnataka, was conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1955. Every year, 15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in his memory.

The award was presented by Law minister, Veerappa Moily, who praised Nilekani's efforts for the UIDAI project and commented on the way the project would lead to better facilities for all.

Previous award holders include Narayana Murthy, Azim Premji and Vijay Mallya amongst others.
