Modi demands German delegation apology for adverse comments

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has demanded an apology from the German parliamentary delegation which visited the state recently and made adverse comments over the chief minister's style of functioning.

The German delegation was in Gujarat recently to study the status of minority communities in the state. Following the review, the delegation has recommended that the EU deny a visa to Modi.

In a letter he shot off to the prime minister Manmohan Singh yesterday, Modi has sought an apology from the parliamentary delegation.

In his letter Modi has requested the PM to take appropriate action against the delegation. He has also asked that the matter be taken up with the German ambassador to India.

Modi has also sought a public apology from the German delegation.

According to a state government release, "Recently, a German parliamentary delegation visited Gujarat and issued statements to the news media that were maleficent in nature and were tarnishing the image of chief minister, the state of Gujarat and India. CM has said that the delegation should apologise for the matter."
