25 Mar 2011
Revenues from captive IT-BPO industry in the country is estimated at $12.3 billion in FY11, accounting for over 20 per cent of overall services exports revenues, according to the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom).
Captive sector revenues have grown at a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.6 per cent over the last 3 years, driven by the addition of over 200 captives, Nasscom said.
The captive IT-BPO industry currently employs over 4.4 lakh employees, accounting for over 20 per cent of total exports employee base.
Captive centers in India have moved up the value chain to become `centers of excellence' for specific areas for many companies. Most of these have transformed from cost centers to profit centers.
This is a rising phenomenon in the offshoring landscape in India and Nasscom on Wednesday inaugurated a two-day `Global Captive Conclave 2011', the first focused event in the country for global captives.
The conclave aims to discuss debate and outline the speedy evolution of captives in India, and also strategise the growth plan for the future.
