India to continue Iranian oil imports

Oil minister Jaipal Reddy told reporters yesterday that India would continue to import oil from Iran without violating any international law, and has requested the US and the EU to take into account India's oil needs, according to a Reuters report.

The news agency said, Japan along with 10 other EU nations were exempted from financial sanctions after they significantly cut purchases of Iranian oil, but left China and India, Iran's top customers exposed to the possibility of such steps (See: US exempts Japan, 10 EU nations from Iran oil sanctions).
