Rohan Murty, son of Infosys Technologies' founder-chairman N R Narayana Murthy dreams of the day his Pakistani friend at Cornell University and he would be free to explore and experience each other's countries which they are not able to do at present.

The younger Murthy, now a doctoral student at Harvard, hopes to see a collaboration between Indian and Pakistani scientists one day to find cures for diseases like tuberculosis and malaria.

His most fervent hope is for a cricket team that will draw on the best of Indian and Pakistani talent to beat every other cricketing nation.

In his keynote address to a distinguished audience at the India-Pakistan business meet organised by CII  in New Delhi, Narayana Murthy said ''Troubled past does not mean we should have a troubled future. Yet for business to flourish, we must ensure security of lives and livelihoods in both countries.''

Murthy said he saw huge potential for India- Pakistan collaboration on businesses spanning technology to healthcare, as long as peace and security prevailed between the two countries.

Pointing to India's growth story in IT exports, which boomed 5,000 times in the last 17 years to touch $50 billion, Murthy said Pakistan could gain a lot from Indian expertise in delivery of global technology and business services. He added that Pakistan could offer a talented pool of IT-BPO workers that could help develop the region as a destination of choice for global companies.
