Integrated check post at Attari opens for trade with Pakistan

India today operationalised the first integrated check post (ICP) on its border with Pakistan, at Attari, in Punjab, paving the way for increased trade flows by reducing the time for passenger and freight movement between the two countries.

Besides, the ICP will provide employment and business opportunities for the local population and contribute to area development. It is also expected to herald progressive, productive and mutually beneficial relationship between India and Pakistan.

Constructed at a cost of Rs150 crore, the ICP at Attari is spread over 118 acres of land.

The ICP houses a passenger terminal building measuring 9600 sq mts, 16 immigration counters, 12 customs counters on arrival and departure side of passenger terminal building.

The ICP is equipped with X-ray baggage scanners, DFMD's/HHMD's and modern amenities like health services, child care and even prayer room, ramps and wheelchairs for the convenience of passengers.

It has a dedicated cargo terminal building measuring 4,700 sq mts, import warehouse measuring 7,400 sq mts, export warehouse measuring 3,400 sq mts and parking of trucks measuring 55,000 sq mts for efficient cargo processing.
