Consumer price inflation for agricultural and rural labourers dips to 13.68 per cent

The consumer price inflation rate based on the consumer price index for agricultural and rural labourers decreased to 13.68 per cent in May against 14.96 per cent in April.

The rates of inflation during May 2009 were 10.21 per cent for both the series.

The all-India consumer price index numbers for agricultural and rural labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) increased by 2 points each in May to 540 points for both the series.

The rise or fall in the index varied from state to state, a government release said. 

The index for agricultural labourers recorded increases of 1 to 11 points in 13 states while it decreased by 1 to 7 points in four states. It, however, remained stationary in three states.

Haryana, with 601 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 464 points stood at the bottom.
