The annual rate of inflation based on the all-India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at (-) 0.32 per cent in November 2025 on the back of a decline in the prices of food articles, mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, basic metals and electricity.

The wholesale price index for November 2025 was 0.71 per cent higher compared to the previous month (October 2025).

The index for the ‘Primary Articles’ group, which has  a weight of 22.62 per cent in the WPI, increased by 2.07 per cent in November, compared to October 2025. During the month, prices of minerals, food articles and non-food articles have increased. However, the prices of crude petroleum and natural gas decreased, compared to October 2025.

The index for the `Fuel and Power’ group (weight of 13.15 per cent in WPI) increased by 1.03 per cent in November compared to October 2025. During the month, the price of electricity increased and the price of mineral oils decreased while the price of coal remained unchanged from the previous month.

The index for the ‘Manufactured Products’ group  (weight of 64.23 per cent in WPI), declined by (-) 0.07 per cent compared to October 2025. Out of the 22 groups in the manufactured products category, 14 groups registered decrease in prices, 7 groups witnessed increase in prices and 1 group showed no change in prices.

Some of the important groups that showed decrease in prices included fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment), food products,  other non-metallic mineral products, computer, electronic and optical products and chemicals and chemical products. Some of the groups that showed increase in prices included manufacturing, machinery and equipment, textiles, electrical equipment and wearing apparel etc.

Food price inflation, based on the WPI Food Index (weight of 24.38 per cent in WPI), which includes ‘Food Articles’ from the `Primary Articles’ group and ‘Food Products’ from the `Manufactured Products’ group, was higher  at (-) 2.60 per cent in November compared to (-) 5.04 per cent in October 2025.

The revised WPI inflation rate for September 2025, based on the final estimated for the month, stood at 0.19 per cent.
