Madhukar Gupta committee submits report on border security

The committee headed by former home secretary Madhukar Gupta to suggest ways of strengthening security along the India-Pakistan border on Monday presented its report to union home minister Rajnath Singh.

The committee has made a detailed study through discussions on threat perception, field visits and detailed discussions with stakeholders and has made a detailed recommendations pertaining to strengthening security along the border with Pakistan.

The committee was constituted to study all types of gaps in fencing and all other vulnerabilities in the international border with Pakistan and to suggest comprehensive approach to fix these gaps in fencing and other vulnerabilities on both interim and permanent bases.

The home ministry constituted the committee in April 2016 to assess the security scenario along India-Pakistan border and to suggest ways of strengthening border protection and addressing the issue of gaps and vulnerability in border fencing along the India-Pakistan border.
