The Pune International Airport will reopen for services on 27 February 2008, following a fortnight long closure to undertake resurfacing of the runway.

Initially, the airport's operating hours will remain restricted as the last of the resurfacing work on the runway is completed. According to project officials, the resurfacing project will be complete by May 2008 with the airport commencing 24-hour operations from June 2008.

Meanwhile officials said that the airport is receiving increased interest from international and domestic carriers who wish to launch, or increase, services to and from Pune.
