IIT Kharagpur starts management course for working executives

Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) has announced the launch of a two-year, part-time post graduate diploma in business management (PGDBM) for working executives.

The programme, which is the first of its kind in the IIT system, would be on offer in IIT-KGP's campuses in Kharagpur, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.

Stating this yesterday during a meeting with newspersons, Professor Kalyan Chakravarti, dean of the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT-KGP, said each of the three campuses would enrol 25 students, who would be chosen after an entrance test.

In order to be eligible for enrolment, students should have secured a minimum of 60 per cent marks in BE, BTech, M Com, M Sc, 3-year MCA or its equivalent examination.

Professor Chakravarti said the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management Programme has been designed for working executives who are unable to pursue full-time study but at the same time need to hone their managerial skills for future career growth. The programme will start from first week of July and will consist of four semesters.
