The International Advertising Association (IAA) and Dentsu, which was supported by the United Nations, announced the results of the IAA-Dentsu Global Student Poster Competition on the theme of Climate Change.

The competition attracted 145 entries from 13 countries, including India.

The World Champion was named as Matias Fernandez Garcia from Universidad Argentina de la Empresa in Buenos Aries; his entry was called 'Thermometer'.

In recognition of the critical impact of environmental issues, this year's theme was climate change. The brief asked students to raise awareness of the impact of climate change. The global student poster competition was launched in support of the United Nations action on climate change, and made possible by a donation from Dentsu Inc.

Marcio Moreira, vice chairman, chief talent officer and Global HR director, McCann Worldgroup and chair of the Jury, stated, ''I am delighted with the final results of the competition. Very fresh ideas and approaches came through on what was essentially a very down-to-earth brief''.

The jury included industry executives from Austria, Ghana, Japan, Mexico and USA as well as a representative from the United Nations.

Commenting on the results Dentsu's president and CEO, Tatsuyoshi Takashima stated, ''Climate change is an urgent issue that the whole world is facing. As an advertising communications company, this competition was very meaningful to Dentsu, and we were very happy to be able to support students from around the world in increasing their awareness about climate change. I would like to thank those at the IAA and the United Nations who allowed us this opportunity.''

IAA executive director Michael Lee, said, ''We were thrilled with the level of entries as well as the interesting and diverse creative concepts. The IAA's ability to hold the competition is due to the significant interest of the United Nations and support of Dentsu; and I want to express our thanks for their thought leadership position in this important area.''

The World Champion will received his award at a presentation in New York City on June 10, 2009 at the United Nations from Kiyo Akasaka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information.
