Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start trial runs on the Gurgaon stretch of the Central Secretariat to HUDA City Centre line from 29 January.

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and urban development minister Jaipal Reddy will flag off the trial train.

The train will run a distance of about 11 km from the last stop in Gurgaon at HUDA City Centre to IFFCO Chowk, MG Road, Sikandarpur, Guru Dronacharya, Arjangarh, Ghitorni and Sultanpur Metro stations. The trials were supposed to be conducted only on the Gurgaon portion of the line, starting at the Guru Dornacharya station. However, the train depot, which is a must for an operational metro line, was located at Sultanpur for the stretch.

This is the second time trial runs for a new line is being flagged off following the first one at the hands of L K Advani when trials were carried out for the first Delhi Metro train after its arrival in the city. Sources said this time around Haryana government had requested DMRC to open the 7.3km long Gurgaon stretch before the rest of the line.

The date for opening of the line has yet to be fixed by the DMRC, but the idea was to make the entire Central Secretariat-Gurgaon stretch operational by June this year.

With the construction of the elevated portion being almost complete the DMRC is giving finishing touches to the stations. On the Gurgaon side there are a total of 10 elevated metro stations and the majority of these would cater to residents of Gurgaon. Space for parking is available at several metro stations at HUDA City Centre, IFFCO Chowk, Sikanderpur, Guru Dronacharya station, MG Road, Chattarpur, Sultanpur, Arjangarh, Ghittorni, and Green Park.
