Papers burnt under cops’ noses at Mumbai Congress ex-chief's residence

Shockingly, a day after the first information report was filed against disgraced former Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh on a high court order, MiD DAY reported that papers and documents were being destroyed in the backyard of his Bandra home.
Staff members of the former Mumbai Pradesh Congress chief were seen incinerating bundles of files and documents in the backyard of the MLA's Sai Prasad building residence at Bandra (E) on Wednesday. What is more shocking is that police attached to Nirmal Nagar police station were present in the building premises at the time this act took place.
While the police claimed it was ignorant of the burning issue, witnesses who have captured the event on mobile phone cameras (which have since been published in the media) showing Singh's office staff setting documents on fire early in the morning.
A senior office-bearer attached to Singh's office, when asked about the incident, said it was a usual practice to dispose of old files and papers. He said the MLA was out of town.
However, this begs the official question of how the cops could allow any document to be burnt when the court has ordered them to collect all possible documentary evidence.
Ironically, Singh himself had performed the ground-laying ceremony for the Nirmal Nagar police station in 2001, when he was the minister of state for home, and had also inaugurated the station on 24 December 2002. Now he finds himself booked at the same station.
