Former Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh, was today let off after a four hour questioning by the Delhi Police, in connection with his alleged role in the cash-for-votes scam. He would be questioned again next week, according to sources.

After keeping away from the media for the last few days, Amar Singh finally put in an appearance on Friday as he turned up at the crime branch office of Delhi Police for questioning.

Meanwhile, following their arrests for their alleged involvement in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam, Suhail Hindustani and Sanjeev Saxena were taken to Tihar Jail today on orders of  a Delhi court, even though the city police investigating the case said their presence was no longer required.

"Both accused are remanded to judicial custody till August 5," Special judge Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal said, while sending the duo to judicial custody in Tihar Jail.

Amar Singh was summoned after both Saxena and Hindustani named him as the alleged 'mastermind' of the entire operation to buy votes to save the government during the 2008 trust vote.

The police has prepared a 12-point questionnaire for Singh on the basis of the interrogation of Suhail Hindustani.
