India has emerged as one of the top ten manufacturers of the world, even as the world manufacturing value addition (MVA) grew 5.3 per cent in 2010 - the first year when industrialised countries had a growing trend of industrial production since 2006, according to a UN agency.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has listed India along with its major Asian and Latin American peers, among the top 10 manufacturers of the world in 2010.

Emerging economies such as Brazil, China and India have shown strong performance in economic growth in 2010.  manufacturing value added (MVA) of all these countries grew by over 10 per cent (at constant 2000 dollar value) last year, the agency said.

The three nations' share in world manufacturing output has reached 32 per cent compared to 20 per cent 10 years ago, according to UNIDO.

"Thanks to the high growth rates achieved by developing countries, their share in world manufacturing output has reached 32 per cent compared to 20 per cent 10 years ago."

As per UNIDO's just released International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2011, world manufacturing is showing the first signs of recovery from the recent financial crisis.

UNIDO estimates that the world manufacturing value added (MVA) has grown 5.3 per cent in 2010. It is the first year when industrialized countries had a growing trend of industrial production, the UNDO report points out.
