Yale University to conduct programmes for dons at IIM, IIT

Yale University of US, yesterday signed an agreement with two of India's leading institutions, the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K ) and the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K), for development of training programmes aimed at creating academic leadership in India.

The programmes will be aimed at  vice chancellors, deans and heads of various educational institutes, and envisage the setting up of Centres of Excellence for Academic Leadership (CEALs).

Under the agreement a number of workshops and training programmes will be started which will be funded from the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative with a corpus of $10 million in combined funding.

The initiative, launched in November 2009, is aimed at creation of better ties between universities in India and the US.

Yale University will help with the development of the curriculum for the training for which it will also provide technical and training support and also staff.

The agreement envisages the implementation of activities with the newer areas of collaboration, that will be decided by a management committee comprising two members representing each partner.
