Jammu & Kashmir has received an allocation of Rs1,200 crore under the prime minister's reconstruction plan (PMRP) yesterday in addition to a Rs6,000 crore plan allocation. On top of the bonanza the state government has earned appreciation for the steering the economic development in the right direction under challenging conditions.
The state had been waiting for the plan allocation for over four months, and the announcement of the allocation was greeted with smiles from officials who had meticulously worked on the details of the plan.
In terms of statistical figures the commission approved a 9 per cent hike at Rs500 crore over that of the previous year's allocation for the state's annual plan.
The state will also receive Special Plan Assistance of Rs4606 crore from the centre over and above the state's entitlement for fully funding the plan.
Further, the state will also receive Rs1,200 crore under prime minister's reconstruction plan.
The violence over the past 20 years has ruined much of the state's infrastructure and also presented additional challenges of governance.
