Government to file PSU divestment papers by December

According a senior government official, the government has plans to file the draft prospectus for a follow-on offer by state-run utility NTPC by December.

The government may also file initial papers for new issues of three to four other state-run companies by December according to Sidhartha Pradhan, joint secretary of the department of disinvestment.

Pradhan told reporters of Friday that the government will file papers for NTPC by December. He added that the issue may be in early next year.

The government has plans to divest 5 per cent in NTPC, REC and NMDC.
