India, Pakistan to co-operate in fighting terrorism

Prime minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani today met on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt and resolved to fight terrorism and cooperate with each other towards this end.

Both prime ministers agreed to delink the composite dialogue process from the action against terrorism dialogue is the only way forward. Prime minister Singh told Gilani that India was ready to discuss all issues with Pakistan, including all outstanding issues.

Prime ministers Manmoman Singh and Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani considered the entire gamut of bilateral relations with a view to charting the way forward in India-Pakistan relations, the two said in a press communique.

Both leaders agreed that terrorism is the main threat to both countries. They also affirmed their resolve to fight terrorism and to cooperate with each other to end the menace.

Pakistan prime minister Gilani has assured his Indian counterpart that his government would do everything in its power to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to book.

He said that Pakistan has provided an updated status dossier on the investigations of the Mumbai attacks and had sought additional information/evidence, to which prime minister Singh said that the dossier was being reviewed.
