Militants in Jammu & Kashmir launched a second attack on security forces in two days, targeting an army camp in Samba district early today.

Defence minister Manohar Parrikar said that as of now, two militants have been ''neutralized'' in Samba. Search operations are still on to ensure there are no more militants hiding in the area, he added.

''This year we have neutralised 24 to 26 terrorists until now, with only one casualty on our side. Exchange of fire is also low on the Line of Control,'' Parrikar said.

Reports from the long-troubled mountains say that apart from a civilian who was on his way to the Mata Vaishnoo Devi shrine in Katra town of Reasi district, two Army soldiers have also sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Home minister Rajnath Singh said all ''necessary actions'' are being followed. "We are in touch with the authorities in the state. We have got a call from the deputy chief minister and we have also received information from the intelligence. The necessary actions that are required are being taken," he said.
