Indonesian aerospace firm PT Dirgantara  has secured a contract to supply Super Puma MK II helicopter components worth $42 million from Eurocopter.

Formerly known as IPTN, PT Dirgantara has core competence in aircraft design, development and manufacturing of civilian and military regional commuter aircraft, and had an iconic stature in Indonesia, for having successfully made Indonesia's first home made aircraft N-25.

"The contract for the components supply is for 10 years," the company`s president director, Budi Santoso, disclosed in Jakarta on Monday.

Budi said the cooperation proved that PT Dirgantara Indonesia, formerly known as IPTN still remained trusted by international aviation industries as one of main aircraft component suppliers.

"PT Dirgantara Indonesia has since 1976 cooperated to supply components for Eurocopter that produces among others 11 Super Puma SA 330 and 19 Super Puma AS 332 helicopters," he said.

The framework of this agreement envisges a series of training programmes between the two manufacturers for the first three years, including the permanent posting of an Eurocopter team in Bandung for technical assistance and exchange of technological know-how.
The operations of serial production are due to commence in 2011.

The Indonesian comopaniy's partnership with Eurocopter began in 1976, with the licensed manufacturing of 118 BO 105 helicopters. This first joint cooperation was followed in the 1980s by a full licensed production of 11 Puma SA330 and 19 Super Puma AS332 helicopters.
