The central government has signed a ceasefire agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation), under which the two sides will follow mutually agreed cease fire ground rules for a period of one year with effect from today.

The agreement was signed Shambhu Singh, joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs and Wangtin Konyak and P Tikhak, co-convenors on behalf of NSCN (R).

The government of India has also extended the ceasefire with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khole-Kitovi) for a further period of one year with effect from today. An agreement to this effect was signed by Shambhu Singh and Jack Jimomi, supervisor, GPRN/NSCN on behalf of NSCN/KK.

The Government of India has, meanwhile, decided not to engage with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) and, therefore, the earlier ceasefire agreement with NSCN/K is no longer valid, n official release said.
