Mrinal Pande quits Hindustan, Shekhar becomes group editor and president

Mrinal Pande, the first woman editor of a multi-edition Hindi daily, has resigned from her post as editor-in-chief at Hindi broadsheet Hindustan.

Pande had been associated with HT Media for 18 years out of which nine were as editor-in-chief of Hindustan. She was also the group editor for Hindi publications of HT Media Ltd. Pande also hosts a weekly interview-based show, titled Baaton Baaton Mein, on Lok Sabha TV.

The group has now appointed Shashi Shekhar, group editor and president, editorial, Amar Ujala Publications as Pande's successor at Hindustan.

Shekhar has 29 years experience in journalism, of which 25 years, have been as an editor. He has been associated with Amar Ujala since 2002, when he joined the paper as group editor. In his seven-year stint at Amar Ujala, Shekhar launched six new editions.

He began his career in print journalism in 1980, and within four years became the resident editor of the Allahabad edition of Hindi daily Aaj the age of 24. He entered TV journalism in 2000 as an executive producer in-charge of input for Aaj Tak.
