CIAL launches aviation academy

Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has started an aviation academy with the objective of meeting demand for trained personnel in the aviation sector.
"The academy would offer career oriented courses from September," CIAL academy director TS Gopi said.
Various certificate courses, advanced diploma courses and undergraduate and post-graduate courses offered at the academy would help to enhance practical knowledge and develop technical skills of youth, he said.
The academy also plans to promote industry oriented education through the industry-institution collaborative model, he said.
The six month courses offered are those concerning airport ramp handling, rescue and fire fighting and security and intelligence. The one year advanced diploma programmes consist of airport operations management, aviation rescue, fire fighting and safety, air cargo management, security management, retail management and relationship management.
Admission process for various courses was on, with the last date for receiving applications being 31 July. Officials said the courses were receiving a good response from students.
CIAL was the first public-private-participation venture airport in the country and handles the fourth largest international passenger traffic in India.
