New Delhi: Japan's flag carrier, Japan Airlines, announced Monday it would increase frequency on the Narita, Tokyo-Delhi sector from 30 October, taking the total number of weekly flights to five.

Currently, JAL operates round-trip flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It will now add a service on Thursday starting 30 October, the airline group said in a release.

The statement said that the Narita-Delhi route reflected "a robust high-yield corporate demand."

It also said the decision to increase frequencies on this sector was taken after analysing the current supply and demand conditions. The analysis led to an increase in flight frequencies on routes with substantial demand and a reduction in the number of flights on some of its domestic sectors to raise load factors and improve revenue, the release said.

The airline group has increased domestic frequencies on six sectors and slashed flights on two from 30 October, the release added.
