All Nippon Airways Co said on Monday that daily return flights between Narita International Airport and India's Mumbai will be trimmed to three times a week. It also said it would stop operating its daily return service between Kansai International Airport and the Chinese city of Dalian from 12 February.
The carrier will also suspend twice-weekly flights from Dalian to Shenyang. And the Narita-Shanghai service, which now operates 21 times per week, will be offered only 14 times per week.
At the same time, Japan Airlines Corp (JAL) revealed that its 21 weekly flights between Narita and Bangkok will be trimmed to 14 starting from today. And from February 10, JAL will offer 21 flights a week between Narita and Shanghai, down from 28, while the Narita-Beijing route will be offered 14 times a week, down from 19.
Both airlines blamed a huge drop in passenger numbers because of the economic downturn.
