QuEST to manufacture of 787 Dreamliner parts for SAAB

Bangalore: Indian engineering major, QuEST Global, has been awarded a five year contract by SAAB for the supply of machined and sheet metal parts for Boeing 787 cargo doors. The five year contract will be executed at the QuEST Global SEZ in Belgaum, Karnataka.
Delivery of sample parts is to be completed by the first quarter of 2010.
''This engagement gives me immense pleasure as QuEST Global is among the first Indian suppliers that SAAB has associated with and has plans of scaling up in future. The operations, being based at the SEZ, would also allow our customer to enjoy the financial benefits of being part of the aerospace supply chain ecosystem, the first of its kind in India,'' said Aravind Melligeri, chairman and co-founder, QuEST Global.
According to Elisabeth Ross, strategic sourcing director, ''We are pleased to have found in QuEST Global, a competent partner to meet our component requirements. This agreement is also an important step in Saab's industrial cooperation program with Indian companies.''
The company has already signed MoUs with three major players in the aerospace manufacturing space - SABCA (Société Anonyme Belge de Constructions Aéronautiques), Magellan Aerospace Ltd. and Farinia SA.
It has made an initial investment of Rs150 crore in a Special Economic Zone, spread over 300 acres of land in Belgaum, Karnataka. The SEZ currently houses an engineering services facility, a precision machining facility and a sheet metal facility.
