LCC model will dominate Indian skies: Aviation Outlook India

Aviation Outlook India 2009, hosted by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) and Singapore-based Terrapin took off on 30 June Hyatt Regency and Mumbai.
The two-day conference provided an opportunity to industry profesionals to discuss a wide range of issues related to commercial aviation in India against the backdrop of the global economic turmoil that has severely impacted the aviation industry.
The event had over 20 speakers from leading orgnisations in the field share their insights on business models, revenue generation, training, safety, infrastructure development and other aspects of the aviation business in India and abroad.
The first session of the conference got underway with a panel discussion focused on the potential for investing in the Indian aviation sector and the opportunities in the downturn.
The panel discussion was moderated by Peter Harbison, executive chairman, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation. The panelists Ng Tim Peng, vice president of india, Changi Airports International, Angsar Sickert, managing director, Fraport India presented their assessment of the potential for growth and opportunities in the sector and their experiences with the often frustrating delays and procedures that presented considerable challenges to negotiate.
Sickert recounted how major projects with particular emphasis to the Navi Mumbai Airport ended up in limbo for various reasons including political interference and pressures.
