Rajesh Kamat quits Viacom18, joins CA Media as CEO

Rajesh Kamat, COO, Viacom18 Group and CEO, Colors has decided to move out of the group. He will now join Peter Chernin-backed CA Media as its India CEO.

Kamat has been with Viacom18 for over three years now and was instrumental in launching Colors and taking it to a leadership position. Apart from Colors, he also identified newer growth and opportunity areas for the group and helped in setting up Sun18.

''Kamat has played a significant part in extending and establishing Viacom18's strong footprint in the GEC category,'' said Haresh Chawla, group CEO, Viacom18.

Kamat will continue to be with Viacom18 till June to ensure seamless transition while all the Colors' functions will now directly report into Chawla. 

Speaking about his decision to move, Kamat said, ''My assignment with Viacom18 has been one of my most challenging as well as gratifying periods of my professional career.''

He added, ''Indian media and entertainment domain is bustling with developments that portend exciting future and my next assignment with CA Media will give me the opportunity to create a blueprint for leveraging and monetizing such opportunities.''

CA Media was launched in November 2010 by the Chernin Group to strategically build, manage and operate media, entertainment and technology businesses across the APAC.
