With the constant slimming down in sizes, a chip-sized computer may not come as a huge surprise for the tech savvy, but the really "wow" part of it is the fact that this chip-sized computer carries a price tag of only $9 and can do just about everything.

The Chip, as it has been named, runs on Linux and includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well.

As a matter of fact, Chip from Next Thing Co. also offers a VGA or an HDMI post for monitors, which gives it an immense versatility and looks like one invention that might be what just everyone might have been looking forward to.

Thanks to its 11,300 backers Chip had already raised over $566,200 from the Kickstarter campaign as against the set goal of $50,000, and there are 26 more days to go to the campaign. According to experts, the campaign would raise over $1 million.

The Chip packs a 1GHz processor, 512 RAM and a storage of 4GB and all of it at just $9 makes the Chip – $19 with the VGA adapter and $24 with the HDMI adapter which makes it one of the most interesting computers one could lay hands on. One can also add PockectChip to it, allowing one's own small computer to have its own touch panel and a keyboard.

The great thing was thing was that one could always add on various features to the Chip.

The Chip is similar to the Raspberry Pi with Arduino compatible I/O and even if it were to cost a little more it would still be a revolution as it had Bluetooth and WiFi built in.

The Chip comes with a 1GHz ARM A13 (Single core Cortex A8) compatible processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of Flash storage. It also features a Mali GPU with OpenGL support.

It is also has a composite video output which could be converted to VGA or HDMI as required. One could connect a keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth or via USB. It also has two USB ports a full size USB and a micro USB with OTG, which meant one could use a Chip as a "desktop" computer if one wanted to.
