Foundation laid for new incubation facility at Patna software technology park

The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Patna today opened a new incubation facility aiming to boost entrepreneurship and IT exports from Bihar by catering to the needs of the start-up companies and young entrepreneurs.

Minister of communications and IT and law and justice Ravi Shankar Prasad laid the foundation stone for the new 8,000 sq feet incubation facility, involving an estimated investment of Rs10 crore.

The new facility would act as a resource center for IT/ITeS exporting units by offering infrastructure facilities like ready to use state of the art incubation facilities, high speed data communication (HSDC) with uninterrupted data connectivity and other amenities as required for development and export of software and services.

The new facility would be operational within 18 months and stimulate to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the IT educated masses of this region.

This facility at Patna would also be used for one of the Digital India initiatives, ie, indigenous production of IT hardware and software for exports and also to support software product startups.

The Software Technology Parks of India Patna was established in 2008 as a part of the overall STPI scheme conceived in 1991 to distinctly focus on promotion of IT / ITeS exports from the country.  STPI, Patna has 11,500 sq ft built-up space. The existing facility is with IIT Patna and this could also be taken by STPI for incubation soon.

Further, STPI is setting up a new incubation facility at Patna to cater to the needs of the IT sector and boosting the entrepreneurship and IT exports from the state.

This facility at Patna would also be used for one of the Digital India initiatives i.e. indigenous production of IT hardware and software for exports and also to support software product start-ups.
