Cyber attack compromises records of 25,000 security staff

A recent computer hack attack compromised the internal records of as many as 25,000 employees of America's Department of Homeland Security (DHS), an agency official said yesterday, AP reported.

According to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the number of victims could be greater. The incident is now under  active federal criminal investigation.

The department had informed employees whose files were exposed in the hacking aand warned them to monitor their financial accounts.
