Asus readying new computing device with Intel Haswell processor: reports

Asus is reportedly readying a new laptop / tablet hybrid featuring an Intel Haswell processor paired with a 1366 x 768 pixel display.

The upcoming device would also be capable of dual booting Windows 8.1 and Android.

Reports say there could be multiple versions of the tablet, one loaded with Android and the other with Windows 8.1.

According to MobileGeeks, the Asus TD300LA, set for launch during CES 2014 (January), was a two-in-one device, in the sense that it would  feature a fully detachable physical keyboard dock. The hybrid was likely to be available with a choice of Intel Core i3-4020Y or Core i7-4610Y processor.

According to Linder, both chips were quad-core processors with Intel HD graphics and they were based on Intel's 4th-generation Core, or 'Haswell' technology, which meant they were relatively low power chips that offered long battery life as also speedy performance.

In other words, the Asus TD300LA would likely be faster (and more expensive) than this year's Asus T100TA 2-in-1 tablet with an Intel Atom 'Bay Trail' processor.

Meanwhile, CES 2014 would officially open on 7 January in Las Vegas

Meanwhile, the company has started promoting its CES 2014 hardware announcements, with a teaser video that abuses a national monument.

The monument in question, the Statue of Liberty is seen whipping a tablet that changes from blue to green, and back again.

According to commentators what this means is that it would be a dual-boot device which runs both Android and Windows.

While the viewers eyes are attracted to the colour changing slate, Lady Liberty is also shown clutching another tablet, but this one only comes in blue. This might mean the company would put up two new tablets at the show, commentators said.

Commentators said while they were pleased to see new hardware from Asus, the possibility of the dual-boot model, was the most intriguing.

The company had experimented with similar devices in the past, with the Transformer AiO and the Transformer Book Trio, commentators point out.

However, Samsung's Ativ Q laptop / tablet hybrid, which also used both Android and Windows 8, never hit the market, for reasons that are still not known.

Meanwhile, Asus would be live-streaming its event, which would take place on 6 January in Las Vegas, making it the first of major events at CES 2014.
