Info Edge acquires recruitment technology software maker MakeSense for Rs8 crore

Info Edge India Ltd, the Noida-based startup whose parent company is India's largest job site, naukri.com, today acquired recruitment technology software maker MakeSense Technologies for about Rs8 crore.
Founded in 2009 by two IIT Bombay alumni Vivek Arya and Anand Ramachandran, MakeSense has developed an advanced semantic search technology for the recruitment space, using the power of natural language processing and text analytics.
As a part of the acquisition, the team of MakeSense will join InfoEdge.
Commenting on the takeover, Hitesh Oberoi, CEO, Info Edge, India said, ''The acquisition will significantly benefit InfoEdge and specially Naukri as the technological expertise and experience of the MakeSense team will help us introduce new features for our recruitment business.''
Ramachandran and Arya said, ''We are excited to be joining hands with Naukri. Their leadership position in the online recruitment space makes it possible for us to take our artificial intelligence powered semantic search technology to every recruiter and working professional.''
Info Edge is one of the largest internet companies in India owning and managing some of the best known brands on the internet in India - Naukri.com, Jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com, Shiksha.com apart from offline executive search firm Quadrangle and Naukri Gulf.
Info Edge also owns Brijj.com, a professional networking site and Allcheckdeals.com, a real estate brokerage firm.
InfoEdge has also invested in start-up Internet firms like policybazaar.com, mydala.com, 99labels.com and zomato.com.
