Sweden’s Hexagon to buy Intergraph for $2.125 billion

Hexagon, the world's largest measurement technology company, today said that it has signed a $2.125 billion all-cash deal to buy US-based global provider of enterprise engineering and geospatial software Intergraph Corporation.
Stockholm-based Hexagon is a world-leading supplier of systems for measurement of objects in one, two or three dimensions.
Hexagon's operations encompass hand tools, fixed and portable coordinate measuring machines, GPS systems, level meters, laser meters, total stations, sensors for airborne measurement, aftermarket services and software systems.
Hexagon's macro products are used in the construction and engineering industries, while micro products are used primarily by automotive and aerospace industries, medical industries and design industry.
Hexagon has more than 7,500 employees in 39 countries and posted net sales of Swedish kroner 11.8 billion ($1.54 billion) for 2009 and net profit of kr1.25 billion.
Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, Intergraph was founded in 1969 as M&S Computing by former IBM engineers, and has emerged as a leading global provider of enterprise engineering (CAD) and geospatial intelligence software (GIS) that enables customers to visualise and manage complex data.
