Leading managed IT services provider Netmagic Solutions has launched cloud computing services to enable enterprises to access IT infrastructure services on a pay-per-use model. Netmagic's clound computing services will be available in three models - Cloudnet, Cloudserve and PrivateCloud.

Cloudnet is aimed at mid-size Internet companies for portal, Disaster Recovery (DR) and testing needs. It can also be used by traditional enterprises. It will enable creation of the entire IT infrastructure including servers, firewalls, load balancers and switches using deployment ready cloud appliances.

Cloudserve provides disposable server resources enabling the configuration and reconfiguration of servers on an on-demand basis. The model is an ideal solution for hosting applications for SMBs.

PrivateCloud will cater to the needs of large enterprises providing dedicated hosted cloud infrastructure. Netmagic will provide the needed harware and managed virtualization platform. Customers will also be provided a console to create various applications and scale up or down on the cloud as per their requirements.

Customers will be billed on a per hour basis. The offered services are vertical agnostic and can be used over various platforms.

Chief operating officer and managing director of Netmagic Solutions, Sharad Sanghi says that with cloud computing services, Netmagic will be able to offer value addition that will optimize IT infrastructure operation.

Cloud computing is basically the provision of every element of IT infrastructure as an on-demand service, which includes operating systems, applications, storage and workflow management.

Though the services are vertical agnostic, Netamagic is expecting revenues mainly from BFSI and Internet companies. The company will provide customers guidance on identification and applications that can be managed in the cloud. Typically these would include SAP, MS Exchange and online broking.

According to leading market research company IDC, cloud computing will emerge as the next wave in IT market space providing new opportunities to suppliers and service providers. IDC research predicts a three-fold growth in cloud computing services rising to $42 billion by 2012.

The cloud computing concept has started greater acceptability in recent years as it helps enterprises abstract another layer of complexity from the organization to concentrate on providing higher value. With enabling technologies including ubiquitous bandwidth and server virtualization now readily available the transition toward a cloud computing model may just be a matter of time, though concerns about security and application latency may need to be addressed before the model gains wider acceptability.
