Exports have been growing faster than the domestic market, giving a healthier look to the overall growth rate of the infotech market. The export scenario looks good for now, but doubts have been raised in certain quarters about what will happen once the Y2K business goes away. How will the sector make up for the revenues that Y2K projects brought in (see article 'will the bubble burst').
But people in the industry are upbeat about life after Y2K for the software exports' sector -- e-commerce solutions, euro projects, customer relationship management, et al.
A few 'if' factors make for a hopeful, if wary year ahead.
