Online retailer Flipkart launches same-day delivery service

As competition in India's online retail market hots up, sector leader Flipkart on Sunday launched the country's first same-day delivery service, which it calls the In-a-Day guarantee.

The Bangalore-based company announced in an introductory offer the charge for same-day delivery would be Rs140; and customers must place their order before 12 noon.

The service has been introduced in 10 cities - Thane, Navi Mumbai, Manesar, Kolkata, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

Another service offered by Flipkart is to deliver the order within 24 hours.  For this the customers need to place the order before 6 pm.  This service is available in 27 cities.

Flipkart also promises that if the order is not delivered as claimed, customers can avail money back guarantee in which the product value up to Rs5,000 will be given free. The amount will be refunded to the customer's Flipkart.com wallet.

Orders under this offer can be placed from today till 30 April.
