OnePlus opens online sale of latest smartphone

Chinese major smartphone maker OnePlus today opened online sale of its latest smartphone OnePlus One on e-retailer Amazon India, following the lead by its rival Xiaomi, which has reported extremely successful flash sales on Indian e-commerce site Flipkart, its exclusive online partner.

Following the Xiaomi strategy, OnePlus has introduced an ''Invite Only'' procedure to buy the phone online and its official launch is still awaited. According to commentators, the procedure had been made too clumsy and burdensome for buyers through ''the invite only'' process. On receipt of an invite, buyers have two days only or 48 hours to buy the device.

Though there has been no official indication of the price, according to some unconfirmed reports, it would be in the range of Rs25,000. According to other reports the device would be delivered from 2 December onwards, coinciding with the online slae of Xiaomi's Redmi Note sale on Flipkart.

Here is how users can get an invite, Tech 2 reported:

1. Users would need to first subscribe to the OnePlus One newsletter, and then enter contests and events hosted by the company for India or by Amazon.in.
2. Once they receive the invite, they can click the unique link and register with their OnePlus One account. They would see the invite here. Users need to simply click on 'Buy' to purchase the device on Amazon.in.
3. On the site, users should choose the device in Sandstone Black and enter their invite code on the product page and proceed to checkout.

From the time of the invite generation, users would have only 48 hours to buy the device. If the time frame for the invite were to expire, then they would need to follow the same procedure and try again.
