Thai firms to display industrial, consumer products in Chennai

Chennai: Fifty-eight Thailand industrial and consumer product companies will be displaying their products and services at the Thailand Exhibition 2003 to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre between 16 and 18 July 2003.

The companies that will be exhibiting their products cover 15 industry sectors such as auto parts and accessories, furniture, food products and beverages, household and kitchenware products, construction material and hardware, children's products, games and toys, education, computers and accessories, electrical appliances, garments, textiles and fashion accessories, gifts and decorative items, health and beauty, leather products and footwear, chemical packaging products, rubber and stationery products.

In addition there will also be live demonstration of Thai cuisine. The cooking demonstrations will feature Thai dishes that have made their marks in the culinary world such as Spicy Prawn Soup (Tom Yum Goong), Chicken in Galangal Infused Soup (Tom Kha Kai), Thai Stir-fried Noodles (Pad Thai), Thai Herb Snack (Kob Kaew Smoonprai), Mock Pomegranate Seeds (Tab Tim Krob), Stir-fried Chicken and Cashewnuts (Gai Pad Med Mamuang Himmapan), Papaya Salad (Som Tam), Fish Cakes (Tod Man Plagrai), Taro Balls in Coconut Milk (Bua Loy Puek), to name a few.

A Thai dance troupe is also being flown in to deliver performances twice a day during the exhibition.

The exhibition will be inaugurated N Narenthran, minister for industries, Tamil Nadu government, at 11 am on 16 July 2003. Chirasak Thanesnant, ambassador of Thailand to India, will deliver the inaugural address.
