Cochin Shipyard and Seatrium partner to make mobile offshore drilling units

State-owned Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and offshore engineering services provider Seatrium Letourneau USA, Inc have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly

manufacture and supply critical equipment for jack-up rigs for the Indian market.

The partnership aims to tap the market for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) with India specific design solutions that are innovative, reliable, and efficient.

Headquartered in Singapore, the Seatrium Group provides innovative engineering solutions and repair and upgradation services to offshore, marine and energy industries. Its main areas of business include design and construction of rigs, floaters, offshore platforms and specialised vessels.

The company has a global presence with shipyards, engineering and technology centres in Singapore, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Norway, the United Arab

Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) is engaged in the construction, repairs and refits, including upgradation, of all types of vessels. 

The MoU with Seatrium will further expand CSL’s business portfolio and strengthen India's offshore drilling capabilities

As of 31 March 2024, the company’s order book stood at approximately Rs22,500 crore.
