Mumbai: The government has extended the restriction on export of wheat beyond December and has prohibited overseas sales of flour, according to statements posted on an official web site of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

The government has also allowed private traders to import duty-free wheat for an indefinite period, the notes said.

Private traders have imported more than one million tonnes of the grain since the government allowed them to purchase at nil duty.
