India has launched a new digital platform, Ayush Nivesh Saarthi, in a move aimed at mainstreaming India’s traditional medicine sector and achieving a transformative change by facilitating global investments in the sector.

With 100 per cent foreign direct investment permitted in the sector, the new portal aims at positioning India as the epicentre for traditional medicine and wellness.

Minister of commerce and industry Piyush Goyal and minister of state for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav jointly launched the Ayush Nivesh Saarthi portal during an Ayush stakeholder interaction held at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, on 29 May 2025.

A joint initiative of the ministry of Ayush and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, the Ayush Nivesh Saarthi portal opens a new chapter in the country’s push to transform its time-honoured wellness systems into an engine for economic growth.

Ayush Nivesh Saarthi, developed by the ministry of Ayush in collaboration with Invest India, brings together policy frameworks, incentive structures, investment-ready projects, and real-time facilitation under a unified interface.

The portal, which is backed by data, transparency, and ease of access, is designed to support both domestic and global investors.

The platform will act as a strategic tool that would further strengthen the growth of India’s Ayush industry that has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country, with average annual growth rate of 17 per cent between 2014 and 2020, says a government release.

Global investments in India’s traditional medicine and wellness sector , supported by rising global consumer interest in natural, preventive, and wellness-based healthcare, will also herald transformative changes in global health and lifestyle systems.

Speaking at the launch, Piyush Goyal said that with 100 per cent FDI permitted in the sector through the automatic route, the launch of Ayush Nivesh Saarthi opens a new avenue for collaborative investment and innovation in holistic healthcare.

The Ayush Nivesh Saarthi platform brings together the government’s proactive policies, India’s natural wealth of over 8,000 medicinal plant species, and a globally trusted wellness tradition, said Ayush minister Prataprao Jadhav.

This portal offers real-time data, transparent policy guidance, opening access to a vibrant, expanding market, he added.
