All government ministries and departments as also public sector undertakings and public sector banks and all other organs of the government will stop printing calendars, diaries, schedulers and other such materials and adopt innovative means using digital or online methods, a finance ministry release stated.

Given the prevailing circumstances in which the world is increasingly moving towards adopting digital force-multipliers for productivity, the Government of India has decided to follow this best practice, says the release.
Accordingly, there will be no activities like printing wall calendars, desktop calendars, diaries and other such material for use in the coming year by any ministry/department/PSUs/PSBs or any other organ of the government.
While all such activity will go digital and online, the government will take concerted efforts towards incorporating innovative methods in such matters, using technological innovations for planning, scheduling and forecasting.
Publication of Coffee Table books will also be stopped and appropriate use of E-Books will be encouraged.
Integrating technology into daily work is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his governance model which sees technology as an enabler, it added.
