Mumbai:
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), the global online shopping
site, will open a software development centre in Chennai.
To be called Amazon Development Centre, it will focus
on developing new and innovative web site features to
help Amazon''s customers around the world find and discover
anything they want to buy online.
The
centre will manage all technology aspects of the website''s
features developed here. This includes idea generation,
analysis and technical design, as well as front, middle
and back-tier software development across a variety of
architectures and technologies.
Chennai
will be the fourth Amazon.com international software development
centre. Amazon.com also has centres in Edinburgh, Scotland;
Cape Town, South Africa; and Bangalore, India.
A
Fortune 500 company based in Seattle, opened on
the world
wide web in July 1995 and today offers, what it calls
"earth''s biggest selection" and seeks to be
the most customer-centric company on earth, where customers
can find and discover anything they might want to buy
online at the lowest possible prices.
